Shifting the Gaze: Women-Led Stories Reframing Australian Screen

Shifting the gaze SKFF 2026

Women in Film and Television Victoria (WIFT Vic) is proud to once again present the much-loved Shifting the Gaze program at St Kilda Film Festival.

Curated to celebrate bold, distinctive and deeply compelling work by women and gender-diverse screen practitioners, this program brings together a powerful selection of women-led stories from across Australia. From emerging voices to established creatives, Shifting the Gaze shines a light on the filmmakers reshaping the national screen landscape and expanding the stories we see on screen.

Audiences will have the opportunity to experience this striking collection of short films, then hear directly from many of the filmmakers in a post-screening Q&A exploring their creative process, perspectives and pathways into the industry.

Following the session, St Kilda Film Festival and WIFT Vic warmly invite ticket holders to continue the conversation over a drink and casual networking in the Festival Lounge.
